WHY SHOULD YOU MAKE THE BED IN THE MORNING?

While making the bed in the morning may seem like a chore, it is an important step in improving bed hygiene. Spreading out the blanket and draping a bedspread creates a humid environment that is ideal for mites.

Mites multiply quickly in damp environments and can trigger house dust allergies and asthma. To avoid dust mites and moisture in bed, you should make the bed in the morning, shake out the covers and air the bedroom.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE BED LINEN?

In general, it is recommended to change bed linen every two to three weeks, but this rhythm can vary depending on the season and sleeping habits. In the summer, when it's warm and you sweat easily, you should change your bed linen more often, about once a week. Changing bedding regularly is important to keep dust mites, dirt and bacteria at bay.

TO WHAT DEGREE SHOULD THE LINEN BE WASHED?

Colorful bed linen and fitted sheets can be washed at 30 degrees to preserve the colors and protect the fabric. White bed linen should also be washed at 30 degrees to save energy. However, allergy sufferers should wash white bedding at 60 degrees to kill mites. Silk bed linen should be washed at around 30 degrees.

WHY SHOULD YOU AIR THE BEDROOM IN THE MORNING?

While we sleep we sweat and the mattress gets damp. It is therefore important to air the bedroom for a few minutes in the morning for hygienic reasons to reduce humidity and bad odours. After that, you should fold the blanket halfway to allow the mattress to continue to breathe.

WHAT ELSE IS IMPORTANT?

To improve bed hygiene, you should thoroughly clean under the bed every six months and turn the mattress over if possible. You can also clean the bed frame yourself every two months. Regular cleaning and care of the beds can extend the life of the mattress and improve your bed hygiene.
