THE OPTIMUM SIZE OF A MATTRESS: HOW LONG SHOULD IT BE?

When looking for the right mattress, you may be wondering whether you should buy a single mattress or a double mattress.

There is no clear answer to this question, but if you choose to have two individual mattresses, you have the advantage of being able to move them more easily. A disadvantage of two single mattresses is that there is a gap in the middle. If this bothers you, you can buy a topper or opt for a large mattress. If two people sleep on a large mattress, only one degree of firmness needs to be chosen.

MATTRESS SIZE GUIDE: SINGLE OR DOUBLE?

The size of the mattress is another important factor. As a rule of thumb, the mattress should be (at least) 20 cm longer than your height. So if you are over 1.80 m tall, you may feel more comfortable with these extra lengths. Shorter mattresses are suitable for people of short stature or for rooms where space needs to be saved.

BED BASE: SINGLE OR DOUBLE SLATS - WHICH IS BETTER?

When it comes to the slatted frame, it is better to choose two single slatted frames for a bed from 1.60 m wide. Each side can be individually adjusted to the body, which is ideal for couples with different lying needs. In addition, two separate slatted frames offer more stability. As a rule, standard slatted frames with a width of 80 cm are used for a double bed. Only a few manufacturers offer 160 or 180 cm wide slatted frames as a whole.

THE PERFECT SIZE FOR A BED FOR TWO:

Finally, the size of the bed for two people should ideally be 180 cm wide. However, if space is limited, you can switch to a width of 160 cm.
